What is laminate precisely?
The basis of a Lamett laminate is an HDF-board (High Density Fibre Board). A pattern layer is put on top of that board followed by a transparent melamine coating for durability. The pattern layer is a photograph of wood which is printed onto paper. A balance layer is put on the base which ensures that the laminate panels cannot become distorted and are protected against rising damp. All the laminate layers are pressed together in a high-pressure press and the wood grain is pressed into the top layer. In the majority of our laminate collections this structure corresponds with the wood design.
How can noise nuisance best be limited in a laminate floor?
The noise nuisance with laminate is often highly exaggerated, especially if the installation is done correctly. To reduce noise nuisance to a minimum, laminate is best installed floating. Include noise insulation with this and ensure that the skirting boards do not rest on the hardwood floor. Suspend them about 3 mm above the floor and fill the gap with an elastic joiner spray.

Yes but ensure that the direction the boards are laid is opposite to the OSB. Ideally the OSB should also be coarsely sanded down to remove any paraffin layer. Adhesion has the advantage that the entire laminate surface may be laid at once and that no profiles are needed at doors and stairs. Definitely ensure sufficient sound insulation between OSB and the substructure to prevent downwards noise transfer.
